4-19-10
Our April outing with the Convair Camping Club, to Potrero County Park, was canceled.
Janice McKinnis and Craig were the hosts, but Janice had to go for hip bone surgery.
Jerrian and Jim Taber organized a restaurant outing to take the place of the Potrero campout.
We were to meet today at 11:15 AM at Coco’s restaurant, near the Kaiser hospital, in San Diego.
Doreen and I were early and asked the person in the restaurant for the room where the Convair campers were to meet.
We were informed that we did not have a room. The manager who took the reservation did not know that a group had booked the room until 3:00 PM, so much for their reservation system. We were told that they tried to call, but had no telephone number.
I asked whether they could give us a corner in the restaurant. The manager was not very interested.
When Jerrian and Jim arrived, it was decided to send somebody to the Black Angus restaurant and see whether they had room for 24 people.
They loved to have us. Everything worked out fine. The food was good and we had a good time.
About Me
- Richard
- I am retired and like to travel by motor home across the United States and Canada. In the winter I hope to spend more time with my WIN (Wandering Individual Network) friends in the California and Arizona desert. I know my trip reports are having too many details, but I am writing them for myself, if anybody else enjoys them, that is fine too.

Avocado Festival in Fallbrook
4-18-10
Today was the day of the avocado in Fallbrook. They also grow macadamia, and other nuts there.
Parking spaces where at a premium. We were lucky, after driving around for a while we saw a person leaving and got her spot.
One of the down town streets was blocked off and hundreds of vendors set up booths.
On the way home we stopped at the Saturn dealer in Escondido.
I am looking for a used Saturn with low mileage. My Saturn has 176,000 miles on the odometer and burns oil now. With Saturn shut down I thought people would get rid of their Saturns. No such luck. The dealer has no used Saturns and there are none in the newspapers.

Easter 2010
4-4-10
I hope everybody had a good Easter Weekend. We had a really good Easter.
Today we went to La Jolla to Doreen's son and his wife.
Doreen's daughter was there too.
The food was good and we had a good time.
They live near the ocean, where one can walk along the shore.
This morning, at 6:15 AM, I was at the gas station to fill up the motorhome, before I put it in our RV parking area. At that time I have no problem getting in and out the gas station.
I gave the clerk $150.00. He looked at me and then went to the window to see what I was driving. I thought it was funny.
